biography

Fifteen years ago I decided to move to the light and sunshine in New Mexico after 8 years in Seattle. I chose the town of Española on a map - for its centralized location. I now make my home at a former turkey ranch I call Ranchito San Pedro. From my home I can freely search the landscape for my next painting inspiration. As a self-supporting artist, I continue to teach watercolor from my studio, at Ghost Ranch near Abiquiu and other places that beckon. My home at Ranchito San Pedro also serves as a modest Bed and Breakfast and I've finally completed my dream of providing Artist/Vacation Casitas especially suitable for artists and travelers interested in the spectacular landscapes and destination points all around Española. 2002 brought a long envisioned dream into reality. The casitas are truly lovely - and just what I hoped I'd find when I moved here. I have finished my book entitled, The Watercolor Artist's Guide to Exceptional Color after two years of intensive work. You can order a signed copy from me by emailing me here.
I live a pretty quiet life with my animal pals, Livvie - a sweet, rescued German Shepherd dog, Seurat - a lively hound mix who just loves life, Polly - my deceased father's beloved kitty, Xena and Beak - two lively conure parrots who have opinions on everything and about 43 racing pigeons who mostly race for food. I can't say that I really own Sage, a young African Grey parrot - because I'm pretty sure he thinks he owns me. And then there is Flash, the rescued red bellied parrot that you can see in my Animal Pals Together, with the pigeons and chickens - these are my family here and this is a life I love.
